CommsEGYPT is a new quarterly publication, produced by the CommsMEA team and our correspondent in Egypt, Mats Palmgren, solely for the Egyptian market.
It is a market that deserves our attention, because it has become the most dynamic market in the region.
The CommsMEA team have produced country supplements in the past for Egypt, but we find now that such is the wealth of material and interest in the country, that the country's telecommunications industry deserves a more fuller treatment.
Each issue will keep you up to date with what is happening and we intend to bring you full coverage in coming months as privitisation of Telecom Egypt becomes a reality at the end of this year.
Even though the Egyptian government is only selling 20% of the country's monopoly PTT, it represents a huge change of attitude in the way the country's telecommunications and Internet business is run and regulated. It opens up the way for competition, already present in the GSM mobile market, and will provide a new development path for the country.
